Default RS 1600i BOTTOM END

Hi there ive got abit of a problem that i hope some one on here should be able to solve for me.
I bought a 1.8 bottom end off ebay months ago for my xr3i when i picked it up i got chatting to the bloke and he said that he had had the engine built to put into his rs1600i but the car was stolen before he had the chance to put it in the only thing he said that would need doing to it would be to take the dipstick tube out of my old engine cut a quarter of an inch off it to clear the crank and stick it in but ive took my old one out but its way to big and wont go in the hole so i was wondering if the earlier cvh engines like in the 1600i had a differant dipstick and tube ?
Thanks for your replies in advance mark.

What bottom end is it? zetec or 1800cvh like a sierra?

For the cvh there was a difference but only for the electronic dipsticks, the tube was shorter but only the bit that sticks out the block, theyre the same length inside the block

If its a CVH could you not get a sierra one?

Its a 1.6 block as its got it on the block casting its been made a 1.8 by changeing the crank, rods and pistons its not the length that im bothered about its the diameter of the tube itself the one that came out of my 3i block seems to be twice the diameter any ideas why ?

Thats a weird one mate, there shouldnt be any difference in diameter, just the length if you have an electronic dipstick

Might be worth going down Fords and checking?

Any chance of a piccie, had a look in your resto thread but the pics didnt show anything.

The only picture ive got at the minute is this one where you can just make the hole out next to the bearing cap

ive got a mate that works at the local ford dealers so ill have to have a word with him to see if he can shed any light on it

Dosent look like theres anything wrong there, get a pic of the dipstick tube up

Ive got an S2 bottom end in my RSi and i ordered a new dipstick from fords for it and it fitted fine, but i had to cut it down to the same length as the original from my other block as it was for a normal dipstick and not the electronic sensor one

It was supposed to be for a Series 1 RST
