As a couple of you may know, me and a mate are building a stupid car.
A fresh 200 blocked 480 (ish when it's run in) BHP Reyland YB engine + A Focus converted to RWD = Fun!!

Anyway, we started chopping up the old donor saff to get the tunnel and turrets out etc

There's a focus being delivered next tuesday, so that'll be getting stripped down ready to go to Andy Gallacher along with the turrets and the tunnel. There will be a 1.8 blacktop Zetec engine and box going spare if anyone needs it?
I'll stick some more pics up as work progresses.

And before I start getting slagged for chopping up a cossie shell, it was well rotten

Used that to go through the sills!! The grinder kept flinging bits of rust at us!!

The engine was built for the saff and its not even run in yet!! Gotta do another 800 miles on it when it goes into the fossie then back to Martin Hadland for a check up then all hell can break loose!

Charlie Shaws focus at national day made me want one, so i suggested it to a mate two weeks ago when he found a load of rot in his car, and hey presto!!
The donor saff was really nice to look at, but the legs had gone all the way through at the back and the sills practically fell off when the skirts were removed, so we chopped it up!


Cheers for the comments folks, as said, there's gonna be a 1.8 zetec + box going spare if anyone wants it and suspension bits etc.

 

How much you want for the black top,with nothing on it (going bike carbs,rwd in a sierra)?

Cool project andrew will do a top job of the shell

 

Got the focus shell ready to be transported up to Andy Gallacher today, completely stripped of everything apart from the glass.
So, week commencing the 24th of september, its going to Scotland and coming back cossified!



This is the bit getting chopped out!

Putting a shonky mega powered pinto engine into a brand new shell! That's really going to keep the build costs down and make Ford money isn't it!

On the other hand, nice project Davey, why was the Focus so cheap from Ebay in the first place?

 

Flood damaged I think, i was a non runner, but couldn't find anything up with it.
The only thing we could find wrong was a scrape down the o/s/r arch as you can see in the pics, but other than that its perfect. Ian found £5.80 in slummy in there too! Its nearly paying for itself!!

I'd keep all that metal, you'll be needing it for plenty of patch repairs in 10 years time if the focus goes the same way as any other old fords

Definetely agree on FOCOS,fossie is a silly kiddies name for it.
Gonna whip the head of the blacktop tomorrow to see what the crack is. Cam belt tensioner is deffo bolloxed though.

Depends when Andrew can get the shell done really, everything is there, ready to be fitted up to the Focus.
The donor car had a pretty big spec,
The engine was practically new from Martin Hadland and still not run in!
Keeping the full spec of that quiet until the cars ready (and I find out exactly what it is!)
Std 2wd beam for now, Gaz coilovers polybushed (of course) std 2wd rear brakes (for now) and Hooooooooooooge Jaguar Front Brakes that Martin Sourced. Dunno what they're off though, but stopping quickly, it feels like your face is being ripped off
Pro Alloy Fuel cell and tons of aeroquip and probably a cage of some description!
Antracite Mo's and whatever we decide to bung in the inside!
It'll be all MOT'd and Taxed when its built too. Completion really depends how busy Andrew is, and after the feature on his focus, I'd imagine he's gonna be choca!
