mk 2 escorts
is there anybody out there that still uses these cars every day? every example seems to be mint and not driven very much.
dont me get me wrong i love it when these cars are shown polished to death, and spakling underneath etc but im interested in getting one and it would be my every day car just wondered if anybody else uses them for day to day purposes.

I had one that I used to use every day but rust got the better of it.
My cos is a daily user, don't see the point in not using a car not my thing.
My MK2 was 1700 auto(1300 torque convertor), on a 32/36, modded head and as it was out of a(mk2) ghia it was Mexico(mk1) spec cam in it as std.
Was ace on the fuel around 38mpg, was fast spinning it's 185/60/13 yoki A008's in the dry, had 3.54 diff for better crusing, but slaughtered my mates 2.0i(maual) sierra.
Had it on the rollers, with instruction full tune up, all they did was check the timing/fuelling and then a power run, would not even do a timing swing(ignition), the people who now run powerstation, they were in Norfolk at the time.
I tweaked the timing myself by advacing it till bottom end was good, then pegged the advance stop inside the dizzy to get top end right, all in all it picked up 17bhp, which was great but pisses you off when you PAY someone else to find it!!
One of the best cars I ever had it was but rust beat it, get one I say if you can.
