the rs 2000 will & does break they no differnent to any other car.i had a mk6 rs 2000 4x4 even in its 184 brake form no way did it feel as fast as a 180 brake escort rs turbo, ok it went round bends alot better & looked cool ( petrol blue, 17" rondells, coilovers, twin headlights magnex ap brakes ) but the fun factor wasnt their & thats why you buy these kind of cars for FUN the 2000 i felt was lacking in this department.
Hello Folks i new, just to stoke the fire a bit more i have a series 2 rs turbo with 220bhp and a mk6 2wd rs2000 with about 170 bhp. The turbo is more fun to drive, but a lot more hard work, my rs2k i use everyday to get me to work and around the doors and its fantastic, you just put your foot down and it goes it great for upseting vauxhall owners as well! lol

I've got rid of my cabby running 287bhp. it was fun but there was no control, i had to maintain it every couple of days, there was always a problem with something on it. my wallet was getting thin.
i brought an RS2000 mk5 and its brilliant. i only wanted it for ford fair as i didn't have a ford anymore, i was going to sell it, but i feel in love with it. it handles and feels s**t loads smoother to drive. ok the power isn't there but there is a massive room for inprovement. I vote Rs2000. Honestly you might find the rs turbo fun and faster, but your regret it in he long run mate.

So what Mods did you have done to it to get the 184hp??
well, i tested a rs2k yesterday and i was disappointed.
or it was actually a mk5 cabby with a rs2k engine...
i did not test it for long 5min, but in that time
the torque was... did it exist at all...?
and it was supposed to have 150bhp
i would put it in the same class as my old cabby and even that would beet it
rst... different league
ps: anyone ever turbo converted one?

I am well happy tho. it hasn't let me down yet, well apart from the lower arms which are always a problem on these cars. its smooth to drive. handles bloody well.
its great to drive something that dosen't feel like its going to fall to bits and something that dosen't break as easy when your on the gas
. i don't think i'll ever get an rs turbo again to be honest. if i get anything else wid a turbo it will probably be an escort cosworth. thats one car i haven't had the pleasure to own yet.

I own motorsports developments old Rs2000 Turbo.
What a car, Drives nice an smooth, Power steering not like my old Fiesta Rs Turbo that boke down every week.
My Rs2000 ran 4 years of 330 Bhp and the only thing that went wrong with it, is that it needed a new clutch every year, and one gearbox rebuild.
They drive so much better than any Rs Turbo and also its not often you see an Rs Turbo that can run a 13.1 1/4 mile @ 112 Mph
I own both if youre gonna use it as a daily driver go for the rs2k but if you want one for weekend fun gotta be the rst ive owned mine for eight years and if you buy a good one and maintain it properly they are as reliable as anything else, mines been running 200bhp for eight years and nothing has broke apart from clutch but wont use it as a daily due to the rot factor
I have a s1 rs turbo pushing just over 200bhp
and today i just bought a mk 5 rs2000 and that is a fun car to drive
so i would say the rs2k its got a KnN and a scorpion pipe
but it feels like a missile

there is one of them each in my family and the rs2k had to be rev the tits out of to get it to shift (which it did), but the turbo was just slightly faster (both standard) it is a hard one to choice between as i love them both but i wouldnt have a 2k if it did have bonnet bump as they make the car stand out!!!!! but i would have any turbo as long as they are good condition clealy!!!!!!!
good coms for both cars, its personal choice at the end of the day. when I had my S2 it was my weekend car, this has been replaced with my escort cos seven years ago, my RS2000 is my winter car.

Both good cars I've had both but as I'm now on my 4th rs 2000 there a bargin for what they can achieve
They both have there good and bad points as all cars do
But my rsturbo was rolling roaded and produced 193bhp and the rs 2000 would get away quicker all the time and felt more stable at high speed
Oh and it handled better than the s2 aswell
