Got a 2002 CTR at the mo, but for some reason i love the look of the gunmetal grey Cooper S.

Should I switch over????

How slow are they as standard, and anyone know what bho they put out?

A guy at work had one, I was suprised how quick it was, my S2000 didn't have to much on it.

 

Your type R would be quicker surly

The cooper s pre 2007 are supercharged and can get a works upgrade to around 220bhp !!

The new cooper s has now been turbocharged so should see some nice power hikes in time!!!

Personally i would have a civic type-r as there 197bhp N/A and bang a rotrex supercharger conversion on and the sky is the limit 400bhp+the baby conversion kicks out 330bhp without intercooler!!
Where the jackson blower conversion is 290bhp and about maxing out due to heat!!!!!!

These cars are phenominal with a supercharger !!!The cars are taking up to 350 bhp with no internal mods as the engine is bulletproof and quite a few lads have done 20k+ milege hard and no problems!!!

 

Any down sides to the mini Cooper S- technical things, not just that i will look like a bird

What makes it worse is that my misses wants exactly the same car in the gunmetal grey

Plus, what spec is the best to get - whats this chilli pack?

only real weak point is the Electric PAS can play up and its not cheap to fix (£300) but thats about it.. the engines are bomb proof!

I wouldn't say you look like a bird in one, they certainly go well and buy the time you get to 220bhp they uttler fly...

As for the civic... they handle badly and are slow untill rolling IMO

BTW you want one with red wing mirrors as std

Not sure on the red wing mirrors remind me of the time rover whacked an orange grill to a BRG rover 200 to make it sporty

The chilly pack is basically trim levels...

You add options or groups of options called "packs" - it works out cheaper to buy a pack than just the individsual options

The the CTR with the supercharger is a quick car no doubt .......But a LSD must be fitted and even then traction will be a problem.I enjoyed my CTR but alas no LSD as standard and traction was terrible in damp/wet conditions.Great revy engine but you can't beat a turbo charger.

 

Yep I've just had to replace mine, fitted it myself, the pump still cost me £350

Both good cars, though im not really a mini person, cant stand the old ones and the news ones are ok, but not for me. But not taking away they are good cars (the new one anyway).

lol, i just got something against old ones. Well not some much against them i can see for what they are but i could never in a million years own one. I dont like small cars, and i often complain the Civic is too small and i need a big barge just to waft along in. (think im getting old).

THe only picture i get with old minis is people going down the road bobbing around in it, like their on a bouncy castle I sometimes wonder if they feel sick
