Default Anyone know about portable Generators?

I need to get a portable Genny, pref as small as pos and that would power a 240v 800W recip saw and maybe some portable lighting. Can anyone recomend one off ebay as I've not got a clue what I'm looking for?

you only need a 2KVA one there mate, LOADS of them on ebay

i wanna spend under Ł200, would a 240v plug go straight into those?

You need an adaptor to get from the round plug to a normal 13A socket, but they are only about a dozen quid.

You can get a 2.3KVA if you shop around for around Ł150.
Most of them have normal domestic plugs and a 12v charger terminal too.
Avoid 2 stroke ones as are more expensive to run but most 9f not all at this rating should be 4 stroke.

watch out for cheap chinese copies of honda motors that do not last.

i would have thought that in your line of business you need something that you can rely on, not something that might conk out halfway through a rescue, so i would always buy the best

i would also buy way over capacity for the same reason

4 stroke ones are far quieter than the 2 stroke ones but are more expensive

my dad has this one

not cheap though (you'll get it for 2/3rds listed price)

As Nick says, if its for use during your work, I would go for a honda one just cause they are proven reliable, even though it will cost more.
