I calculated up mine the other day and could get nearly 15k if i broke it, where I would get nothing like that if I sold it whole.

Its an amazing car and he's spent 38k on it I believe. Shame its being broken and I'm even more pissed after speaking to him on the phone today as hes thinking of getting a Subaru. I'm sure he will regret it.

Its actually the Suffolk & N. Essex group and the meets are held in Colchester. They couldn't be more into Suffolk cause at the time of being set up the old EA Group was still being wound down and your not allowed meets to be within a certain mileage of each other.
7K is FAR too much money to pay for a YB off ebay with allegedly 9K miles on it IMHO
Im well aware it would cost far more to build, but I just dont trust ebay ads to be very accurate and anyway 9K miles is realistically about 1/3 of the way through the life of the engine.

Chip, the ad is shit TBH and when I spoke to him last night he said that includes everything. engine, genuine 500 inlet, T4, ecu & Wiring. I know for a fact its cost him 15k + at Mountune alone.
You dont think its worth that much? Give me a shout next time your selling some bits
and he drives it like a Fag!

Kieron, buying from someone you know and trust is different in my opinion to buying off some random ebay dreamer.
Hence if you look at my comment I said " for a YB off ebay "
IF it was someone I knew and trusted then I probably would pay 7K for it, assuming I wanted an out of date engine with 80s tuning technology in the first place, which obviously I dont, lol

I can vouch for the car, it is absolutely mint (I supplied lots of the parts for it), and John has owned it for fucking forever, with the maority of the time spent off the road being fettled and tweaked to his very exacting standards, which means it has been treated better than his wife
. When he phoned me the other day to tell me he was selling it, I could hardly beleive it, as he has JUST got it to the exact way he wanted it, with the hydraulic clutch and 6-speed gearbox conversion
.
You should ask him for pictures of how the cage is fitted, the seats have been cut and retrimmed to go round them in the back as if the car came from Ford with a cage in
. Attention to detail like this is mind blowing. Also being an engineer by trade, he made the fuel system cradle out of two new original items, so again it looks like Ford did it
.
You have to see this car in the flesh to appreciate the time, money and effort that has gone into it. The car is one of the best built Sapphires in the country, and I think I'm qualified enough to know what constitutes a car of that level, so DEFINITELY not your normal ebay tat....

I have seen John before, friend of Mike R's i believe. Seen him a few times years ago at the Diss RS meet... Used to work at Mountune iirc
He was at the RAF Woodbridge trackday with me when i was there a fortnight ago. halfway through the day he's engine was smoking like a complete wanker! and i was following him....
He covered my car in oil and he got black flagged instantly!
He didn't run the car after that so i gathered someone was seriously wrong
(as it was only halfway through the day)
He wasn't running full boost as i was killing him down the down back straight.... (might have been the noise regs) But had all the right stuff on it for 500 just wondered what happened to the engine....

"there was an oil leek, came out of the power steering rack and it was burning on the downpipe" "The O ring let go in power steering rack on the feed pipe"
He said that anybody with any questions please feel free to ring on 07931 752556.

He was running 15psi due to the noise regs
, and as has been posted, the power steering 0'ring failed causing the problems described. It was THAT bad, that they black flagged him thinking his car was on fire
.
I would NOT vouch for a car if it was rubbish, as I know how important it is for people to not get ripped off
.
It did 176mph, so has the power (even if the driver hasn't the bottle to hang on that little bit longer
).

No trying to diss what John is trying to sell as the car looked lovely and had all the right tools on it
Except from the masking tape him and his mate put on the front of their cars to prevent stone chips.. God it looked fuckin awful
(Saves the paintwork i suppose)
He was explaing to Matt (Who i went to Woodbridge with) about his new gearbox and about his new tyres....
Thing about the noise regs is that it only had a static test, not drive by.. So full boost could have been used if he wanted to...Mine was 100db static
d'oh
Thanks to keiron about explaining the problem, i didn't want to jump to conclusions
There was a SHIT load of smoke i thought i was the one on fire!

No worries Smit.
The masking tape does look gay but the last track day he done at Woodbridge cost him over 1k as he had the whole front end repainted and 4 new tyres. He is very very fussy about his car, cares for it well and spends whatever money it needs on it. For example that gearbox he fitted recently was a bit notchy between 3rd & 4th so he had it refirbed literally 2/3 weeks ago at a cost of £1600! Thats why I can't understand why the idiot is breaking it.

Lets face it he doesn't have far to fall.
Maybe in trying to outdo you with the softest jumper competition he has overcooked things and his legs couldn't cope?
Seriously though I can't understand what the hell he is doing and I'm sure he will regret it.
