Default Used car valuation...

Evening all..

I am interested in this car- thinking of doing a p/x with the guy.

I know what I want for my car... thats fine.... he's not a trader.

Just wondered what people thought this car was worth???

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=180139603954

To help you out.

New retail was £27,800
With a few more miles, on this year and spec they tend to be around the £17,000 mark.

So what do you reckon?

(Ps I know what he wants)

Not sure on the value, but as nice as the car is, i bet it'll depreciate at a ridiculous rate over the next couple of years.

not sure about value but :

2 owners and only 981 miles , not impossible but unlikely .

cat d - says it was only vandal damage but then says in the questions "The damage was not bad at all. The airbags were not deployed" why would he mention the airbags if all it had were a scratch or 2

may be just me but something doesn't add up

thats whats got me too, why has it got so few miles in so much time if he's been using it for the past 6 months?

i'd also be concerned about waranty issues as a reslut of it being declared a write off, even if it's only cat D and subaro's do really well in top gear survey's

This doesn't add up either....

The car had very, very light vandal damage, scratches to front bonnet, scratches/dents down the drivers side, but is now fully repaired using genuine Subaru parts and looks as new.
Why would you need parts to repair scratches/dents?

This will not affect your insurance in any way
Some ins companies won't even insure Cat Ds.

2 PREVIOUS owners makes him the 3rd [unless he's just messed up his wording].

2 owners would make sense as obviously Dealers do a lot of self registrations to get their figures up and sell them with delivery mileage..... but 981 miles with 3 owners....

Don't even consider the car, let it be someone elses problem.

I've hpi'd it myself as has another guy on here... ( Cheers )

Registered Jan 06

First change of owner was late aug last year, recorded catd on 21/9/06 and changed owner again in april this year.

The guy is willing to do a deal with the clio but as of last night was way off the mark.

As for it being a catd and the resale- not even remotely bothered by that as by the time it comes to sell it it will only owe me pennies anyway due to having a car allowance from work.

Haven't checked the insurance as of yet but I know previously Greenlight have had no probs with em.

This will make everyone run for the hills... the chap wants 10k for it..
(must be dodgy eh???? or just a bargain????)

Which to me does seem a little on the cheap side even for a catd?????

I'd have had it more around 13-14k retail?
(due to age, mileage, spec, book prices, catd)

Ultimatly before I even go to look at it he needs to come up with a more suitable deal...
