spent a day watching them at raf donna nook ... on the coast up by hull area i think it was ... bloody awesome planes

theres a prog on the history channel about the goings on there, they were originally put there so the russians could see and count after the cold war by satellite, they get ground up to very small bits and a lot of it goes in to new mobile phones apparently .

thats what I thought as well - seem to be early and late Canberra types - never knew the yanks used them but they have USAF markings

 

thats is americas aircraft graveyard and storage facility. alot of the decommissioned planes are available for sale. an f14 is 7.5million dollars. the phantoms are used as target practice when they test missiles etc. its crazy to think that most of those aircraft can be made combat ready in just 8 days!!!!

could you as a pilot really trust a plane thats been sat in the desert for 10 years though
