Default Serviced Passat TDi bloody thing won't start - SORTED

1998 AFN 1.9tdi

I tried Joe's advice, I couldn't take the filter apart so I had to fill it from the drain plug, upside down Still didn't want to take so I haven't tried to bleed by cracking the inj.

get a 17 or a 19mm spanner on a injector pipe, get the wife or who ever to sit inside with it cranking over and while cranking slacken the injector union nut unitl fuel comes out, it will prob start to try to fire by then try another pipe also if its not quite going yet but it will fire up

as mentioned fill it up and keep winding, if fails to start crack off injector pipes and turn it over till they piss fuel out. As a last resort get some easy start

lol, just wind it over on the starter, it'll go eventually if you have a good enough battery. vw's are usually quite good at starting up once run dry.

or as said, slacken off the injector pipes and spin it over until diesel comes out then close them again.

Just crank it for a minute or so. It'll be fine.

(If you have a shit-shit battery then connect a jump pack to it)

easy start or brake cleaner does the trick.fire it down the air intake in short bursts untill it fires. it will sound like its gonna blow up but they never do.
focus 2.0 diesels are the same, right pain in the arse.

All sorted, many thanks chaps

After sleeping on it as I was pissed off with it last night, this morning I cracked each of the injector unions in turn whilst the wife turned it over. It fired immediately after a couple of turns once i cracked the first one actually but I cracked all of them one at a time just to make sure.

She now fires on the first turn.

Many thanks
