Mitsubishi Pajero
Next door neighbour has one, but theirs is a 92 model (i think they're the same shape as the 1990)
They have a fucking HUGE caravan (i'm talking twin axle, in excess of 25ft) and it manages to tow that alright

I use a f reg shogun 2.5 td for towing and general abuse its been the best tow vehicle ive had. Automatic gearboxs are expensive if they go! mines a manual and had noisy gearbox bearings but got that done for Ł300 been good for last 4 years

I've got a 2.8 as a tow car.
Apart from the usual crap fuel consumption, it also suffers from a common problem.
The oil seal in the diesel pump unit very often goes, causing poor running, stalling etc.... Very well documented, and not too bad a job to do, as I've just done it.

My sister has a LWB 2.8 Pajero and it pulled a Cossie on a bloody heavy trailer no bother. (Im sure the thing was cast iron
)
Diff is gone on it as only one of the rear wheels drives it but knock it into 4x4 and it was effortless. Thirsty buggers tho!
