OUCH! That was expensive!
let me guess, the actual test, then the price of new frames(over £140 probably) then the price of the lenses would be alot aswell without even mentioning transitions, or extra coating to protect them etc

Test - £35 - reduced to £23
Frames - £199 (£149 frames plus £50 additional transitions sunglasses attachments)
Lenses - £249 - reduced to £199

THing is, my current frames have served me for 10yrs now, and they have taken some battering! Since I need new lenses it's time to get a new pair of frames too, so gone with the flexy titanium frames which should take even more punishment, so should last at LEAST another 10years.
Current glasses cost me £350 off all those years ago, so really, £400 in this day isn't too bad..... Still a lot of money tho

The other side to it is I DO need a new pair just so I can have my old pair as a second pair, cos I am fucked without glasses, and since I now live on my own, I have no body to help me out should I lose em, break em etc..... That and new EU legislation coming in soon that will make it mandatory to have a second pair of up-todate-prescription glasses be kept in your vehicle at all times

Nah, much as I begrudge spending out that kinda money on something that isn't a toy or such like, it don't make sense to scrimp on something that is actually incredibly important!

'Should've gone to spec savers'.....
can believe no one has said that yet!
I don't think thats alot for glasses... I spend more than that. It only gets really expensive if you are like me and go through 7-8 pairs a year
I broke 3 pairs in a weekend once...
Leave them on the train, sit on them, fall asleep in them, Tread on them getting of the bath etc etc....
I like to have at least 3-4 pairs to choose from depending on mood and occasion as well....
For example, I can't wear these to work... apart from a Friday

I was gonna go to SpecSavers, but I decided to stay with my personal opticians cos they have always looked after me in terms of service. As I said, I've not ha d a new pair in 10yrs, but in that time they have never charged for for any repairs I needed (like when the lense came out the other week and the frame needed retapping for a new screw, or the time one of the nose pieces broke and needed reattaching etc etc)
So I went with them... Albeit for over £400

Thought about it, just never REALLY done anything about it.... I kinda resolved on the fact I wear glasses, so not bothered to go for laser treatment.....
Plus, it isn't ALWAYS successfull, and there have been some cases where the person has had their eyesight worsened, in a couple cases people have been blinded!... And it's not permanent so I am led to belive.....

Stu - never got on with contacts to be fair.....
And regarding the laser treatment - I know a lot of people say it's the best thing ever, but I am just still wary of it... Way I see it, you only get one set of eyes and you can't change em, so if ANYTHING goes wrong with a laser treatment, I'm fucked
At least with glasses, anything goes wrong I can get new ones..... And considering I been wearing glasses since I was in infant school (think I was 6? so coming on for 20years now!) it's not like it's a hardship to wear em....
