on a s2 gearbox @6500 rev limit you can do 1st38 2nd62 3rd92 4th124 5th155 or @7000 1st40 2nd67 3rd99 4th134 5th167 . thats on 205/40/17 tyres

300hp on the rev count think it goes just under 7k, how accurate the old gages are I dont know should be 7k! On my road angel ive seen 146!! Would the quaife diff make any difference to this?

At a guess, with 15's I would take about 5mph off each speed quoted above.

i'm changing the spec a bit less boost but more nitrous i wont have a problem pulling the speed, fifth gear might cause me a problem.. but i will have to wait and see

Cool cheers for the info sean With the amount of power your running how can 5th possibly be a problem lol

My car just feels like it runs out of gears it pulls so well, it goes through 5th like most rs turbos do in 3rd If its a problem il be hopefully increasing the power soon so should level itself out!!

early xr2's run 3.58, as this is what i replaced my s2 box nearly a year ago.

i upped it, as with the RST s2 box, i was always hitting redline in top, half way thro a race, as well as on track days, 2nd was to high, but 3rd was to low, so lossing alot comin out of bends.

it helps in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, but does slow it up quite abit in 4th and 5th, but i dont max out straight away no more.

Fiecos Dan, Cheers fella thats my exact problem get to have a play with a cozy and before you know it your flat out

So whats the ratio of a standard s2 box then? If the escort diesel is 3.58 and fiesta diesel is 3.33 woulded the normal escort of 3.55 be a in the middle? Or does it not work like that

Dont know anything about gearboxes so bear with me

cheers

a RST s2 is a 3.82 final.

ps, my runs 195/45/15's,

On my old s2 std rst gearbox when at brunters i done @ 6200rpm(rev limit) i did 2x 133mph by half way @ brunters @ the PF fiesta thrash my snoopper read 135mph, and the racelogic read 133.3 mph.
but on same gearbox, with a different spec head/cam, i have done 140 on my snooper up hill, and on flat, @ 6500 rpm, and passengers.

And with the new box, @ 5900 rpm my snooper reads 143mph

Same size tyres as mine!! Ive seen 146 on road angel at 7k, I think my rev limit is 7k anyway!

And you run a 3.58!! You worked out what the speed would be at 7k? Suppose around 160 odd?

Roughly

with 3.58 = around 167mph @ 7000rpm, 3.82 @ 7000rpm = 150mph.

Would a quaife diff alter that at all, lowering it? Because I know I have 45s not 50s but im 20mph short of that? You saying that a standard rs box with a 7k limit your hitting 163

A diff doesn't do anything to the speeds.

195/45/15 - std s2 box at 7k is 157. 6600 is 148.

You're probably not revving as much as u think - std rev counter is hardly the pinnacle of accuracy.

just looked thro my notes, and above guess were incorrect,
0n 195/45/15's
3.58 @ 7k = 167.6 mph
3.82 @ 7k = 157 mph
