Default RS500 rebuild..............OMG and OUCH

Well boys and girls, after the idle speed control valve fell apart and was sucked in, I was hoping for just a valve or something simple and inexpensive to repair.........LOL I forgot its a Cosworth and everything has another zero added to the price.

Piston number 4 was fooked, oh well thats not too bad....LOL
one piston from Ford is
£500 yes £500
So I now have 4 Mahle 4X4 pistons, so a rebore is needed then the rebuild can begin. Then the phone call to say the rad has ballooned, so a new rad as well............OMG
Here is a few pics of the work so far.

All donations to the Steve Miller rebuild fund, will be greatfully received

Cost so far £1200, The wife is on the street tonight.......LOL

Glenn,
Simon Lester at Woodford garage has known this happen before and recommends the ISCV, if removed and cleaned, that a small amount of thread lock is used.
So take it back out and make sure this does not happen to you.

PS; Ive owned the 500 for 3 years and have never removed the ISCV, so I think im just unlucky..........oh well its only money.
