DIY people - Quick Q
Got myself a Bertby wall mounted display case for my 1/18th models.
It's a weighty bugger so I'm not sure how best to secure it to the wall. I know I will need to drill and rawl plug but not sure what size and length of screw to use.
Don't want to get in from work to find the cabinet off the wall and 10 models spread out across the floor.

Wall is the main one between ours and next door

Wayhey! Ikea!

I fixed a piece of wood underneath it to stop it dropping down, then used something on the top to "hold it to the wall"
If its a cavity wall, you can get some proper fixings from b&q or the like, and they are solid (used some to hold my sons dvd and tv to his bedroom wall.
If its a solid wall, just use some normal rawl plugs, 1˝ - 2in screws and you should be laughing.
Just make sure there is no electrics behind it

So is it solid brick? How old is the house?
If you are just using ordinary plugs, bigger the better. I tend to use 8mm drill hole ones for most stuff. If it's really crumbly black crappy plaster, drill a 7mm hole for the same plug and hammer in. Use a nice fat screw that is long enough to just go all the way through and out the bottom of the plug when it's all in the wall.

My mate is a sparks and he's done some rewiring on a couple of these places a few years back and thinks the walls are breeze block.
Property is about 20 years old.
Glad I know more about cars than DIY

Use a 5.5mm bit, red plugs and 2 1/2" x 10 (4 x 70mm) screws into breeze block. When you drill the hole, put the plug in then put the screw tip into the plug and knock the plug in, so the plug goes into the actual block and not just into the plaster and then tighten the screw up. These will hold it up no probs
