Default For all you north easterners and Scots

Whats the best road between Edinburgh and Newcastle? The A1 or the A68

When I mean best - I mean best for driving, scenery etc - not to fussed on which is quickest.

thanks

A68 is amaaaaaaaaazing

One of the coolest roads ever.

You can get air about 30 times along that stretch of road before you even get to the scottish border

Cheers Rab, it looks like the A68 goes through some pretty desolate but undoubtably beautiful country but then the A1 is the coast road.

The AA routemaster also says there's a gerzillion speed cameras on the A1 too.

68 beats everything hands down, even if just driving slowly, the scenery is mental

A1 is just a motorway in disguise. A68 is just a country road.

But ace scenery, and you'll LOVE it in the CSL

I live right on the A1 mate at Dunbar where the nucular power station and cement works is and have travelled all over as im a delivery driver ......A1 is pish pish pish A68 has fantastic scenery going through the borders is superb , keep to the speed limits tho as it loves the speed cameras and traps just the same as the A1

Take the A68 and you will love it

You could always try the A697 Coldstream Rd

Same style of road as the 68 but alot less traffic use it

Its my choice every time im heading down the east coast.

Lots of cameras while in Scotland but not to bad once youve crossed the border @ Coldstream.
