Right some may remember me saying i got a fine through the post for allegedly not notifying the DVLA of change of keeper on my old car. However this was sent of in the post by myself. Got a letter this morning they said in light of letter they will reduce the fine from £80 to £40 is paid by 13/7

WTF why should i pay incompetence of the Post office or DVLA? And how was i supposed to know i was going to recive a letter back from the DVLA saying it changed keeper

They are total cunts, anyone got out of this before? I will be on the phone to them later.

Fumming, if it was my own fault then fair enough, but when its down to the shity postal service, or the DVLA incompetence once again i will not pay!

 

Currently in the same boat mate.

Sold a car to a mate and sent log book off, he never got his new one back to rung them up. They told him to send a V62 app with the New Keeper bit. He got his log book, then they sent me a letter fining me for not notifying.

Apparently they are taking me to court at the end of the month for not paying

he sold me a car and sent the docs off saying it was being scraped, but it still had a days ticket on it when i took ownership of said pile of scrap

then they sent him a fine for not sorning it but we prooved when it was sold and all that stuff because i used my van to come and collect it and it's got a tracker on it

still waiting for a reslut from the dvla because he's told them they can get bent

 

Don't pay, the onus is on DVLA to prove you did not post it.
The courts are well aware of the state of play with the royal mail, with letters not getting to destination, as are DVLA.

rhys dont bother wasting your time calling them, as much of a bitch as it is you HAVE to send them letters,,,, or even fax them as its cheeper but also PROOF you sent the details on the fax report

when we got a letter about not sorning a car WE NEVER OWNED !!! we was sent a letter asking us to PROVE we NEVER OWNED THE CAR !!!

always send recorded for the sake or 70p, or at least get a proof of postage these are free.

have you checked the small print or anything as they "may" have included something like it is your responsibility to makesure they get it to cover there own arse.

Just like car insurance i suppose, if you don't pay they cancel your policy and its not there problem if you didn't know and got stopped by the police.

 

Heard all this before. Even cars that were turned in to dealers have not been transfered right.
I think the only way to prove you sent it off is to put it in at the local dvla office or the post office.

Oh well looks liek the big institution wins and the little guy gets stamped on. Sent three letter protesting about it and im getting fook all. Makes you think about their compitence when they send a letter asking for £80 when it should be £40 The guy goes sorry thats a mistake, so i said maybe you made a mistake about not putting my transfer of owner request onto the system There was no reply.


Cunts. Looks like i have to pay it, failing going to court and tbh with starting new job soon etc i am not going to have time now for £40. Though i really wish i could

 

If I am not mistaken - DVLA have the burden of proof.

 

Ask them to prove they never received it.
