MK3 XR3i is easily one of my fave cars, looks wise I've always preferred 'em to the S1.

Keep the XR looks, ditch the tow bar, bung some wheels on it and fit a decent lump and that would be sweet

Dude, please keep the xr3i look. Keep the outside as standard, and spend your money under the bonnet.

I like both of them. They're very rare now in Germany, especially the S1.

Both ways to mod the car will be great, just do a proper job!

I love both cars but I bet the MK3 XR3i is now much rarer than the RS models!

Lower it on some nice rims, then go the full hog on a turbo engine conversion. Leave the XR3i looks

Weve just started stripping the car and already she is showing her age especially in the favourite areas like battery tray and inner sills, but im impressed with the tail gate and boot floor and rear chassis rails all rot free here's a few pics

drivers side floor ok

rear corners rot free
underneath battery tray

But taking it apart was a joy really this car is so original and untouched the standard ford stereo still works every switch dash light all like new nothing broken or cut about and the interior is mint

heres the drivers side sill been bodged on in the past so something else to be cut out and replaced

Looks like you saved this one just in time mate !!!!!

Looks like its worth saving and all as dont look that bad, battery tray and rear arches are just par for the course really with a car that age, easily sorted as well.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread as thought about going down the turbo route with my mk3 as well so this should be an interesting build !!!

Keep the pics coming mate.
