a close shave.....
took the car to msd for mapping - they wouldn't do it. it had no oil pressure - not a sausage!!!!!
stripped the sump off, removed the pump (ok) then pressurised the oil gallery that the pump would normally feed, with a drill pump. the oil came pissing out the drain hole from the cover that holds the distributor/oil pump jack shaft. the bottom gallery plug had come loose and full oil pressure was simply coming out the gallery into this area then back to the sump.
checked the shells and crank -ok!!!!!
