Deposit taken for my car. Not counting chickens yet but hopefully it will sell
Which allows me to think about a Cossie
So, if I buy a 2wd or 4wd with a more or less standard engine, what can I do straight away for more power?
A Superchip Bluefin is very tempting but should I be chipping it without other mods? Are there better upgrades out there?
Sorry for such a noob question but I gotta start somewhere

if ya want a good stage 1 cossie conversion go for above but i recommend karl norris stage 1 gunship chip. enables you to keep up with stage 3 cossies for a while anyway. had one on mine before i went stage 3 and i surprised a few of my mates as it went like a rocket
A decent air filter and exhaust is a must.
Forget superchip.
For easy stuff you have a choice of stage 1 or 3.
My stage 1 got me 288, with exhaust and air filter, but this is very high for a 1.
A lot that do stage 1 go onto stage 3 anyway, so you could just do that to start with.
A 4x4 intercooler on a 2wd works a lot better than 2wd one.
Be sure of what you buy as 2wd and 4wd VERY different to drive, in the wet 2wd can be lethal, but fun!!
Stage 1 is chip, actuator(-31)
Stage 3 is chip, actuator(-31), and DARK greens, 803's injectors, 3 bar map sensor.
Very easy stuff to fit in a few hours and very good power per pound spent.
Later mods would be larger turbo, RS500 type intercooler etc.
Group a coils make a world of difference as do decent leads plugs.

ps if you do not know cossies try to take someone who does!!

At this level just plug in.
Would be wise to have a full load fuelling check on the dyno as it might save the engine if there is anything amiss.
If it is all ok then the chip at this level will be perfectly ok, and NOT likely to benefit much from LIVE MAPPING.
I would take it to R/R to have boost set at the same time, just for peace of mind.
I recommend MSD for a chip, but some like others like NMS.

Try it Standard first, get used to it or it may end in tears
I just wound up my actuator to 15psi from the standard 10psi to match my Stage 1 chip and it's like a different car!! Rapid just about covers it

No standard Cossies are shit! Just go Stage 3 right away, as you'll end up stage 3 soon anyway, it's cheap as chips really. Esp if you stick with the T3, and get a 4x4 intercooler instead of a 500 one. Won't be laggy either like that.
ha ha ha! i like Nuttin Rilla's no f#cking about approach!! Top man!
It really depends on your budget and what sort of cars you've had before.
If you're used to a 200bhp rs turbo (or the like), then a standard car isnt going to impress you. But going from a 115bhp focus to a 270bhp stage one cossie will feel like being strapped to a rocket for a while.
If its a 2wd you end up getting then i wouldnt go to mad with the power mods until you sort out the handling, braking and most importent of all, your reactions to suddenly facing out of the side window!!
