so my small turbo kicking out 280/290@the wheels should be 360/370at the flywheel-using your calcs-------??

Actually if you work it out as a percentage (like it should be), then your car would be closer to 415 at the fly. But it mainly comes down to the rolling road operator and how they calculate the figure. They are notoriously innaccurate for working out any kind of figure, so just be happy with what you have at the wheels.

As people have said its down to the rolling road & the operator on how they calculate the figure. They were able to get mine to read anything from 280BHP to 250 BHP depending on how they setup the rolling road. I won't mention where I took it but its been back twice (no mod changes in between) and those were the figures I got from 2 different people.

Also my car isn't chipped so 280 BHP is a joke in all honesty.

If you go on the MLR you will see some people in their sig mention the wheel HP, most Evo's seem to loose the same amount if i remember corerectly. Could be wrong.

As Tabetha said 2wd is the way to go.

The rolling road operator does not calculate the loss the run down does, it's why they do one.

Didn't mean they calculate it personally, but they setup the rolling road.

it`s all relative realy, it can vary from roller and transmissions ( a staight cut box will have less losses than a helicoil cut gear set up )

i lost 70 bhp on a 450 bhp Escort ( works out @ 18% loss approx ?? )

not some thing you should worry about unless there is a problem or you are searching for numbers......

a dyno / rolling road should only realy be used to check the set up is working correctly and safely..........

a 32% loss dose sound a bit excessive from a 250 bhp motor ????

Just inflate the tyres to 50psi and it lowers the drag and losses!!

mate, 70hp loss at 450hp makes 15.5% loss which is quite low for a 4WD car.. are you sure about the numbers? 10-15% loss is for FWD cars...

Does anyone know if the more power @ the fly wheel means more Transmission loss ? or is it a constant amount ? I'm sure there has been a thread on this before.
