Had letter through the door the other day saying there is plans under foot for speed bumps and traffic "calming" devices, such as making the road go into one lane at specific points. Now this is the most ridiculous thing I have heard and I swear the council are just wasting money and wanting to cause the residents lives a headache! This is a main road they are planning on doing this not in a residential area, housing court etc. The road is used to go to one end of the town to the other so is main route for people. It will cause chaos and I cannot see any benefit or where they are coming from

Anyway I couldn’t make it to the meeting point to discuss it, so the old dear said she would go and complain. However speaking to her now, says oh the one bump is not in good place but the others ok... I explain, did you say the road was quite busy and at rush hour will cause headaches like fook and not to mention damage the suspension to cars etc. To which she replied “no” Sometimes I wish I went myself as people don’t think of the wider picture. I hate these bollocks traffic "calming" shit as they do fuck all but cause headaches for people and waste money.

So I shall be composing a letter tonight to explain what should be done and where they can stick these traffic "calming" ideas.

Anyone else think they are a waste of time? Ok I can see the point of discouraging traffic in residential courts etc but not on a freaking main road

I wrote a letter to the council when we got the plans through for traffic calming which envolves speed cushions at the bottom of my drive.

That was a couple of month ago..

Just trying now, proberly do fuck all by the toss pots. I sweat i heard studies that speed bumps and road narrowing actualy causes problems and not resolve ones they were meant to. Will put that in letter too.


Soed anyone think they actually work? Anyones lives been improve by speed bumps and road narrowing in their area?

 

I live down Penarth Marina and it's murder down there. Have to go over about 10 to get to my house.

 

Another reason for expensive council tax is the amount of people who work for the council, doing non jobs, sitting down all day doing FARK ALL, except the odd game of solitaire, and racking up a nice final salary pension doing fuck all.

But thats another post altogether.

 

traffic calming bumps dont work for normal cars just chavs with there plastic fantastic bumpers and stuff so ya avrage focus or vectra will just go stright over them
council tax is a waste fuking time anyway rip off we got a thing htrew the door what percentage goes to what ppl etc police bin men makes me laf the pigs dont give s fuk if you get robbed or burgled just hand out a crime number

 

GrahamS1 i agree with you mate, i worked for council before and left because couldnt belive how little people do and how shit they are etc. Its bullshit!

the issue I have with them is that they are toooo fekin high, they don't need to be sooo hight to cut speed.

And why do I have to pay more council tax just because I live in a nice area????????

It is the roughass area's that have all the graffiti, damaged bus stops, street lights, flytipping etc etc

Yet they pay less cause they are on the dole eating crisps all day and creating waste

 

The new speed bumps on my estate are totally useless and a complete waste of money!!! All speed bumps do is make the old folk who used to do 20-25mph, now go about 15mph. The people who do 40-50+ in the 30's are generally people who dont give a shit anyway so they carry on as they did before.

Complete waste of time and causes more road rage in my opinion.

 

Thats very true. Every time i drive past some roadworks you can GUARENTEE that 75% of the workman are stood around doing fook all!!!
