you could get a nice golf mk4 GTI for that money
the clio 172's are nice, 306 gti-6's also can be had for peanuts now
i would try a 200sx s14 shape, but enquire about insurance as it has rocketed for these in the last few years

clio probably looks like the best option... insurance is a killer for me... so i cant be going crazy on power, a nice 150-200 bhp would be nice! or an easily tunable engined car! not too fussed about MPG but about 30 is my aim i recon! or is that too adventerous?

Without a shadow of a doubt get the 172.
Dont buy the 172cup- insurance is more expensive (Greenlight wont insure you on one..) and the difference in performance for most drivers is next to none exsistant.
For an everyday driver with relativly hassle free motoring pick the new car.

(ps did I mention I just brought myself a 182!!!)

alli checked the insurance and on all the ones i listed its all around a grand! which imo for a 20 y/o with 2 NCB is quiter good, considering i paid more than that for my first insurance!
