Default What Power For My Spec? (With Results) Discussion welcome

Had my car on the rollers today for a power run. Results were not what I expected. (Not saying in a good way or bad way)

My spec is.....

2wd Saff.
Standard comp.
BD10s.
Double valve springs.
Ported & polished head.
803 injectors.
3 bar map sensor.
T34 .55 with 360 bearing and cut back blades.
4x4 intercooler.
22psi peak.
20psi held.

Car was rollered in 3rd gear. I always thought 4th was the gear to use?

Anyway your opinions and guesses please....

Ill post my results later.

Cheers, Ian.

the reason they use 4th gear is its closest to 1:1 ratio gearbox to engine

a true 330 bhp.

If it was dyno'd on a DD RR in dyno power mode, 3rd gear is correct.

Had it peaking 26 and holding 20 and it was leaning at top end, plugs were white.

I want bigger injectors and more boost.

well mine run today just before ian's....

comp around 7-0.1
grays t34
l&b bottom end
std head and cams
32psi

and it done 335.1bhp in a 3rd gear run and for some reson it would only get a 26psi boost spike.....i asked him to run it in 4th to try and get a higher boost spike but he said it would make no odds

If it werent hitting full boost, Then it wasn't loading the car up fully.

Which in turn will give a less bhp figure.

Im only bothered that the fuelling etc is ok and its not going to melt.

Anyway it drives ok still, feels quick and is pretty responsive.

This is what I got.

The fella said they shut the throttle off when power starts to drop, but when he actually looked they were shutting off when the power was still climbing.

Suprised it only made that

You had good torque, almost 350lb/ft

Maybe a 500 type intercooler might help a bit as well.

DD rollers dont give ego boosting results, just look at the Results from the APT day. Thats why my car will run on DD once its in and mapped.

They use a lower gear as it pushes UP the power figure, due to lower speed at the wheels and lower friction between tyre and roller.

A typical response when your claimed million bhp dont get proved on the rolling road. Remember all Cossies feel fast until you go in a fast one.

Bloody hell BigErn G4 made nearly 40bhp more than that on a standard lump and turbo something must be a miss there
