Anyone see the Arctic Monkeys last night?!?! Headlining the main stage!! I wasnt there but watched it on TV and oh my gosh, they are most certainly the best live band of the moment!!
I spent every single minute of the set dancing around my living room and had the best tingling feeling! Now trying ot locate tickets to see them live somewhere, dont care where or when! Just NEED to see them!!
For all the hastle of getting muddy, id love to be there! What an experience!!

Sorry - I think they are one of the worst bands to emerge in recent years! I absolutely HATE them, and I honestly can't say I have heard a single song, or even a single riff by them that I think is passable or bearable!
But then, each to their own - if we all liked the same thing the world would be hella boring!

Couldn't agree more, IMO they aren't good enough to headline not when you think some of the names that have headlined, on current popularity yes but quality of performance or songs no chance. I mean in recent times the likes of Radiohead, Muse, Oasis, White stripes, The Who then you get the killers and Artic monkeys.
Peoples feelings about their favourite bands cloud judgment though especially when things like best live band get said. Muse sweep up all those best live awards not Moneys and the contrast between the 2 shows couldn't be more different.
i agree with the killers. a few good songs but nothin special. i certainly wouldnt pay Ł20-30 to go see them play 3 or 4 songs that id wanna hear live.
i think the arctic monkeys are an awesome band and are a band i would pay over the odds to go and see. alex turner has got some talent there and they have one of the best drummers about at the moment.
i dont think you can say that peoples feelings cloud judgement tho, i wouldnt say a band were great when they werent. to me there either shit or there great. like with what you say about muse picking up the best live acts. i personally think there shit. musics too heavy for me and the band itself i feel has no personality. now obv there not shit as theyve got a good following bla bla bla but for me id rather slit my wrists than listen to them

jumpin jack crash
Couldnt agree more. The drummer reminds me of Rene out of the roses.
They were AWESOME friday night and pulled it off good and proper. The only bit that spoiled it was that useless pile of shit Dizzy rascal

well coming from me who was there working as a sound engineer.... on the other stage....
i thought the monkeys sounded and looked absolute shite... and i mean every other band i saw were 10 times better...imo
i have toured with the monkeys for 7 weeks or so last year and they were so much better in smaller venues, i think they looked lost and totaly cannot comand an audiance of that size. no banter and no stage presence...
i love jon to death, he is their sound engineer but he did not do them justice at all on the day.. poor bugger was a tad nervous
note for you all, the audio for the tele is re-mixed by engineers on site before broadcast in the BBC outside broadcast trucks. so they will have sounded better on the TV...

If you think he has talent then fair enough but Matt Belamy has more talent in one ampit hair than Alex will ever have.

Not a decent guitarist or song smith amongst em.

i agree, the likes of the killers, Artic monkeys, Kaiser chiefs etc, i just can't see how they would inspire people to pick up a guitar. Clean clean clean.
Personally.. I thought they were awesome..and one of the best bands around at the moment.. (IMHO ofcourse
)
Id much rather watch them play at glastonbury than some talentless donkey like that tiesto or whatever he is called

Just shows the poor state of current music when people are wanking over the first few average bands to come along in years, if this is all we've got to enjoy and look forward to then its a poor tale.
Best bands/artists of the weekend for me were The Arcade Fire, Seasick Steve and The Who.

what i like about the monkeys is they just turn up and play no glitz or fancy shows and all their songs are like a little story that the average guy on the streets of england can relate too, theyre like the peoples band if you like
the likes of white stripes, muse and radiohead i have no fucking clue what theyre singing about most the time but they put on a fancy show i spose hey
The artics are a band thats cool to like - thats it.. otherwise i think they're not very good.
Like has been said, each to their own - but in the same way that Skeg said liking a band can cloud, so can disliking!
I havent watched much of glasto as i've been doing other stuff, but i did catch the Killers, and tbh, i thought they were pretty good.
Saw some of the Gossip, and they sounded good as well... I'm gonnna watch a few on watch again on bbc web site.

skeg werent it through myspace that the arctic monkeys got there fanbase?
fair enough radio 1 jumped on the bandwagon but they still would be big even without radio 1.
that maybe so but he has no charisma imo. they are a very boring band and im sure im not the only person who thinks that... you also dont have to be the best musician to be in the best band. and if you had a poll with the whole country who they would prefer to see live i reckon the percentages would be at least 60% to 40% in the arctics favour.
muse are like radiohead, too much thought goes into it, and the average person dont get it and more than likely dont like it either. theyre very american and im guessing there quite big over there? i know a lot of people who like muse but i also know a lot who dont like them aswell.
fair enough you like them, im not gonna slate you for it, the world would be boring if everyone likd the same bands, football teams etc but dont you think your judgement is being clouded by your love of muse?
i agree with RobL about prefering a band that just turn up and play there instruments and give the punters a good show. i thought paul weller did just that and played 5/6 songs that personified what being in a band is all about. hes a legend!!!
Lee Reynolds i agree with you about reni... and about dizzee. he was a joke. think the crowd got to him a little
