Default mate of mine just broke his back....**update**

were round a mates house having a few drinks, everyone was in the hot tub/pool, i went for a piss came back just as my brother and another mate were helping him out the pool. he'd done a flip of some sort and landed on his head on the bottom of the pool, no feeling below his waste to begin with which spread upto his chest after 10 mins or so. been xrayd and cat scanned, broken C6, hes in the ICU under observation now, theyre hoping its just swelling thats caused the lose of feeling but seems unlikly as it was instant.

fucking insane.....could have been anyone of us.....properly surreal night

i hope to god hes not gonna be wheelchair bound....

It happened to someone I was biking with about 6 years ago. He was riding behind me (we were going off some old building in the woods), came off and hit some concrete funny.

It never cured

terrible

my mate persuaded me to dive in the pool without stretching out the arms and i went in far too steep and twatted my chin on the bottom and had bad headache for a while afterwards. that could have been more serious. sometimes the body is remarkably strong, but sometimes the slightest wrong angle can fuck it up forever

its funny... sometimes you can survive a 300mph crash (like hammond) but other all you have to do it knock something slightly wrong and it breaks... hope your mate gets better!

Poor chap!

I had an unstable fracture of C6 vertibrate when I hit a tree on my GSXR 2 years ago. For 3 weeks I couldnt move below the shoulders but it slowly came back. Now I only have nerve damage to the inside of my arms.

They fixed me by inserting and bolting a Ti plate on to the inside of my spine which fixed C7,C6 and C5 into a rigid structure.

I do hope they can fix him.

Simon.

Hope he is ok mate.

Got to be one of the worst things to happen to someone, feeling fit and healthy but wheelchair bound due to landing wrong in a hot tub!

Seriously hope he makes a full recovery!

Fingers crossed Stu, broken back is a fucking scarey prospect.

On a lighter note, you used that viagra much over there yet?

Done that milf from next door again yet or have you been using your sisters mate as target practice for a while first?

very sorry to hear of your mate, i was a spinal injuries auxiliary nurse , the lad i looked after broke his back at c6 also,in a car accident and he could still walk, however when they sent him home with neck exercises after failing to spot that he had broken it, he is now a paraplegic, lost all feeling on the way home in the taxi and couldnt get out

im not being harsh but if it was an instant loss of feeling id be exceptionally surprised if he wasnt paralysed

the amount of people who are paralysed by silly things is unbelieveable when you work in that line.

Im sure if he is going to be wheelchair bound, he will get excellent care and have a good life still, it doesnt stop the lad i used to look after.

theyve moved him from the ICU to another hospital for surgery tomorow.

im trying to stay positive but it just seems more and more likely its gonna be perminant.

proper makes me feel sick thinking about it, hes only 16, got his whole life ahead of him and it could be vertually over just because of a silly accident.

I did a backflip off the side into the pool on hols a few years ago and hit my head against the pool wall under water. Thank fuck I didn;t hit it on the edge of the pool......

It just hurt a bit but I was fine. Didn;t dare try it again tho.

He's a v lucky guy, if he'd of done C3-C5 things could of been very different indeed. A lesson learnt I take it?

Best wished to him for a speedy recovery.

My little brother is in hospital at the moment, He broke his neck in 3 places and damaged his spinal cord.
Was on life support for a couple of days after the accident
At the moment he can only move his arms a little bit, but today he managed to move his wrist which is a good sign, just hope he starts moving his fingers and legs)
He's had one op allready that took 6 hours, and another shorter one to go.
Its really is upsetting, use to him being around annoying me
i hope your mate gets better
