It really depends what you want from the car.

Could always just leave it to her. If she's anything like my ex she'll come home with a car and when I asked what it was. She said it was a red one

agreed, the boost space is not exactly transit van style but it isnt that sort of car and actually you'd be suprised what I have had in there before

They look well cool when there parked in your garage sideways, apart from that I wouldn't want one as there too small and look like faggot motors!

Each to there own though, If we all like the same thing it'd be a boring world ....

Not talking bollocks at all JAP CRAP, I'm speaking through my personal experience with one.

Mate's missus had one and it felt very lethargic and when she crashed it head on at a relatively low speed (have to say not her fault or she'll kill me ) and I was amazed she'd walked away from it. Maybe they have evolved a little since she had hers I don't know. But I found it very off putting. I'll see if my mate has any pics of the wreckage that I can post

In saying that Oranoco I saw an X5 BM'er run into a back of a newish Skoda Octavia or something and bearing in mind it wasnt doing any great speeds it pissed out steam and the whole front looked ill. The Skoda just had a crumpled boot ..It goes to show no matter what you hit and if you hit it in the wrong place it'll fold. I still there there faggot motors though lol

Oranoco

Watch this video.

ForTwo vs S Class

Its 25mb, (so Broadbqanders only ned apply) but really demonstates how strong the tridon shell is on the Smarts. Remember the weight differences here. and for it to not deflect is incredible really. Ok it does fall over, but the occupants would have walked away albeit probably a bit shaken up. Daresay its safer to crash in a Smart than in a 1988 Ford Escort!

Anyhow, Smarts are great. I drove a fortwo and a roadster during the summer. Not the fastest things out there, but you get a sense of "fun" which is what Smarts branding is all about. And the Roadster gets chatter on every paddled upshift. Oh and girlies love em. Which cant be bad!

Agree with Steve.

However, what do you expect. It's tiny. If you want space, buy a 40 foot trailer and tractor unit. You can park a smart car in a lorry but you can't park a lorry in a smart car.

I vote for the 'dont crash it' argument.

we had one in at work that had only had a very light roll and it looked like a blood bath inside. needless to say the 19 yr old girl driving it died

Did someone say nippy You MUST be kidding Sorry, but they are a gimmick, nothing more, nothing less. Good fun if you believe people are smiling at you and not laughing. Ever drove one on a motorway

I think they are ok for something so small. I wouldn't buy one cos it's not big enough. I like lots of space...

its like saying I wouldnt buy an MPV because its shit around the track. Like I previously said, they wont fit 4 blokes in with all their luggage but thats not what they are for. I think the space is ok in them for what they are. though I am not massive. IMO they are

Though I am sure Steve...the car GOD will disagree

When I drove the two. I REALLY wanted to hate it. But you cant. People slate them, but if you havent driven one then you really cant. Oh and dont forget Brabus Roadster. As for safety, watch the video I linked above or just consider that a pug 205 is a worse car to crash in. Doesnt stop people driving them. Same as Puntos, REnault 5s etc etc.

Have we not got the space issue sorted yet?

I like the car even though it's small and I don't really like many small cars....

If you want space, buy a wagon. I wouldn't buy one personnaly because it is too small for me.

I had a smarty when they first went right hand drive. Very nippy upto reasonable speed, can keep up on a motorway (i'll tell you how to disengage the speed limiter for free, not Ł500+), will do 97mph standard, lots of room for two people, if you scratch a panel dont worry coz the colour goes all the way thru so you cant tell, get silver tridion it really makes a difference, get a dumpvalve coz its adds to the fun. Crashing - my smarty was doing about 20mph, the 7.5ton lorry reckons he was doing about 50mph. Im still here, as is my mum. She got slight whiplash and I was ok except cuts from rear screen flying over me. They really are top cars. Head over to www.thesmartclub.co.uk, they organise smart runs (london to brighton that kinda thing) and people there have taken them apart and put them back together so they know what they talk about. Id say do it and go for one. Oh and deffo get sound package if you want to drive on motorway.

now go discover those back roads in it. plenty o fun

o, also fuck dump valve off. take the airbox cover off. PROPER chatter

even drove mine around for ages with the airbox lid off AND the engine cover off. went slightly deaf, but worth it for the chatter and amusement
