The mounting points are the same - aren't the pick up points also? I thought it would work with all the multiple points for the rear legs . . .

Whats different?

I think Mike R runs normal shonky Konis on the rear. I converted to coilovers when mine went on.

If you mean the rear beam that is made by either Ahmed or Zoo, then yes they will work with standard rear suspension legs. All the rear beam does is change the angle that the trailing arm proscribes - instead of being an arc - it is straight up and down. So doesn't matter what dampers are used.

Mike should have added that this is not a 'proper' Group A rear beam

Neil.

Yes, I am talking about the Group A square rear beam, and using my standard suspension legs.

Have you felt the weight of the square rear beam mate? It weighs a fooooookin tonne as it was designed for gravel rallys. Even the mag rear arms are about twice the weight of standard, or our rear arms.

Another advantage of our beam over standard (apart from what Mike has stated) is that you have fully adjustable camber and toe.

Sean..

I have heard good things about the Zoo stuff - but the square rear beam is going on a gravel rally setup really (and some road use too in the summer months) - I just wanted to know if it'll work.

Right now I have a tarmac bilstein setup on right now and I have to have a ton of camber on the rear to get the car to sit low enough. I bought a square beam this spring and am planning to fit it soon, but I saw one on ebay and the auction says it will not work with standard legs - just wanted if it'll work since I was going to change the diffs and chain to 3.9 ratio.

Cheers

as i understand it, it won't run with std trailing arms (is that what you mean by legs?) and needs the mag ones and a tie rod. what dampers they need, i don't know, but surely must require coilovers as there is nowhere on the mag arms for the std type of springs?

In that case you DEFINITELY have to have coil-overs for the reason FRS states.

Trying to stay a bit in budget - that's why I was hoping to use the standard trailing arms with the beam, and yes I do have the 42mm coilovers all around.

I would have to change too much stuff for proper mag arms - go to Grp A wheels, brakes, hubs, etc etc. Still waiting on that Group A coolant tank I bought from you - stupid royal parcel!

By the way I have a cosworth fan in Ohio that posted pictures of my car . . . here's the link
