Default Silicone coolant hoses

Would you say these are basically a cosmetic thing thats not really needed or would anyone say they're actually an important performance upgrade needed over standard hoses??

Opinions please!

Hiya Paul, hows tricks??

I had the top hose balloon and pop off yesterday round Snetterton, causing me to spin (dumped coolant all over n/s wheel and brake ) Bloody Pro Alloy Intercooler top pipe sits on the top hose which is shit design, this is what caused it combined with the shit Ford clips. Just wondering if its needed to upgrade the hoses, as I really don't want to!

The main benefit is fit & forget I'd of thought. As people above have said old hoses can become a potential problem. If you replace the hoses I'd buy new clips as well just to save on agravation in the future.

I believe silicone hoses are required when pumping nuff power through the engine, cooling system has a lot of pressure in it when ya boosting up to 150 mph

Silicone so much stronger and more reliable as does not get dodgy with age like std ones do.
A cheap form of insurance really.
