Default homologation rules

how are ford and citroen getting away with the homologation rules in wrc? the only thing thats the same on the WRC car and the ST road car is the panels, and i would be tempted to say that its not all of them!??

a few years ago, you had to have a basic road going car that resembled the race car... now its like F1... wheres a 2.0ltr 4x4 ST? there isnt one, and they have just scrapped plans for the 'RS' version...

can anyone shed any light on the situation?

I don't think there was any plans for an 'RS' version of the new shape Focus was there?

It was always going to be called an 'ST'.

Someone will explain better, but it is because they are WR cars. not grp A/N cars. WRC means you dont have to have a road going version, and it sucks imo. Because of it, there are now mental road specials from most manufactures, not just ford

thanks! good info on that site!

would be good to have the rules as the manufacturer MUST offer a similar road going car as the rally car, but none HAVE to be made... i.e. ford offer the ST with 4x4 system and a 2ltr turbo engine? but as they dont have to make any could offer it at a price that they wouldnt loose money on... could probably be that only the rich buggers could afford it, but atleast they offer it for all the enthusiasts, if you know what i mean...

As above, it goes something like this:

http://www.worldrallychampionship.ne...?id_display=19

Engine
Although the Focus ST model on which the World Rally Car is based uses a 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine, rallying rules do not permit an engine of that size. However, the regulations do allow teams to use another engine from elsewhere in the Ford Focus model range, so M-Sport opted for the 2.0-litre Duratec unit, with the addition of a turbocharger and the mandatory 34mm inlet restrictor..................................
