If you have the three holes you are ok and best to use pulleer described above.
If no holes, try a bit of heat, but you will of course have to be very careful if it is a rubber bonded outer bit!!.
When(eventually), you do get it off, if you apply valve lapping paste between the pulley and crank nose where it sits, and gently grind it it will come off a lot easier in future, I was lucky, but know some can be seriously tight, best of luck to you!!

You will probably just have to go for it then, break it off if necessary, it is still a lot cheaper than a new engine!!

The magic is to bend the guide plate(dished washer) between the pulley and the drive cog for the belt, outwards creating a gap, fine if you want just hope you never have to take pulley off, as you are still stuck and so is the pulley.
I will have a look today to see if a puller that uses legs behind the lugs would be feasable to make.

Hi

Had this prob on my 2wd saph. In the end the one that worked for mine has 3 legs that goes outside the pulley and a centre bolt that tightens against ur slackened off pulley bolt and pulls the pulley forward.

Its at home so if you wish i will check the make etc and post details later.

I think(?) the 4x4 ones are all "balancer" type ones with the seperate outer ring bonded on.

I changed the cam belt on my escort without having to bend anything at all, you just have to feed the belt in horizontally while rotating the pulley wheel, eventually it will pop in (have to be carefull not to damage the belt) but mine took about an hour in total to do.

There was also a post on this a while ago, i'll see if i can dig it out

I read other posts saying how you could do it by bending the metal washer guide bit type thing, never done it this way myself.

As tab sais you can do it without removing the pully and bending backing washer bit of a piss poor way but will take you 30 mins and a lot of hassle saved ( although !!! ) I would rather do it the correct way but each to their own and if it gets you out of shit for the moment .

Regards Doug .

You are going to have hassle over this issue at SOME TIME, when a crank seal goes for example, might as well get it over with now ?, by doing it right, but up to you.
