im trying to remember the name of a film i saw when i'm a kid...

was a cartoon kinda thing rated PG i think

was about a load of slaves in some mines or whatever that thiout that was all the world was, then this bloke find a hilt of a sword in the rock and its like its got an invisible blade so he kills some people then goes through this big firey mechanical mouth thing and ends up in some futuristic place and into the outside world (which he didnt know existed) then the film carries on about him finding some friends and finding the people that were imprisoning the slaves blah blah blah and killing lots of people with this invisible sword thing, ends up on some spaceship and eventually back into the mines to fight some people n stuff, loses the hilt but then turns out that he has the power not the sword (bit like the force in starwars or whatever) kills the baddies, frees the slaves, all lives happily ever after etc. etc.

anyone remember it?
