Default brake conversion sierra 2WD

Hi, i was wondering if, when i would upgrade the front brakes to say a proper set of 356mm discs, to take the current standard 2wd discs and calipers to the rear? (i understand about missing the handbrake )
Has this been done more and how hard would it be?

thanks, Rinus

i had 330mm discs with the std calipers and you don't really want to go bigger than that as the pad shape is wrong for that diameter

ah oke, but i'll be having some 6pot wilwoods/brembo or ap racing calipers @ the front also. I'd like to take the standard 4pots including the standard front discs to the rear

oh yeah, now i've read it again i can see that you said that in the first post

i would imagine that you will get far too much braking power at the rear. you could solve it by putting in a bias valve, but better to use suitable calipers in the first place in my opinion. the 2wd 4 pots are very heavy and require a lot of clearance to the wheel surface

you could change the rear calipers to 4x4 rear ones as they are wider due to the 4x4 using vented discs on the rear, does work better plus won't get the headache of trying to get fromts to work well on the rear

4 pots would be wasted on the rear, the money you could sell them for would probably get a new set of recon 4wd rear calipers.
The thing you would be missing is a HANDBRAKE , which is a legal and MOT requirement, and VOSA or POLICE can give you a prohibition notice for this.
As said already 4x4 calipers are by far the best and easiest thing to do.
