Hi all, before i start, it's nobody off here or ford related
Recently got offered an engine, that had been built by a tuning firm in leicestershire, i got offered the engine as it had been stood for 6-8months with no oil in, the people selling it were selling everything of there sons who died, i then sold the engine explaining i have no idea what condition it's in, showed the customer the verniers it had (hence trick cams).
The customer rang the tuning firm, it had their plague on it, and they said they are all really the same tune, bored out, there own cam specs good for 180bhp (standard 137bhp).
Anyway he brought it, took the head off, changed the head gasket, belt etc etc.
Has been driving it around for 3 weeks on standard management now, and has just text saying the bottom ends has failed
Now i feel really bad cause i sold him it, but he's been driving it around for 3 weeks on a boggo standard ecu
, to make things worse the family i brought if off found the mapped ecu in there barn (he wrote a car off hence the engine and the clever son ripped all the good bits off). And i offered to sell all the aparts for so to get good prices and use the net.
what should i do
i just feel quilty

i wouldn't have thought an ecu would do that!!
But come on, you sold it to him clearly stating that the condition of the engine is unknown. How are you to know it hasn't spent those 3 weeks of its life on the rev limiter?
What engine was it by the way?

update for you all, it turns out the the vernier slipped round
the guy took the head off the engine, new belts, head gasket etc etc and obviously didn't check them, that's like not having the bolt done up on a cam
now has the original ecu and says it's over fuelling, has a fse boost valve thingy fitted, any ideas?

i supplied the ecu though, and i want paying for the other half
i defo know 110% it's the ecu from the car cause it's the woman's dead sons car, she wouldn't lie to me, and how many cars would he have broken and put in her garage, just wondered if people know about the boost valve things

Sold as seen pete if it had happened within a couple of days then maybe.
They understood the risks its no different than buying a used car
Plus u don't know how its been driven etc
