Here are a few pics of a rare (1 of less then 30 from what im told) Lotus Elan 26R race car.
So far its only got the front and rear suspension bolted up and rear diff in, but the spec and attention to detail the car is being built with is of a very high standard.

n/s/f corner, consisting of stainless steel rose jointed wishbones for full geometry adjustability, brass centrelock hub, one off handmade coilover with custom internals and valving.

n/s/r corner. again stainless steel rosejointed wishbone, magnesium alloy upright (extremely light, and bloody expensive) stainless steel dampber body, koni damper with custom valving. stainless steel centrelock hub. stainless heavy duty driveshafts.

a shot of the magnesium cased rear diff and handbrake setup.

complete rear end.

whole chassis

old set of magnesium centrlock revolutions with knock on locks. we are getting a new set of these cast.
The Body will be coming into work this week, getting flipped over onto its roof, all the floor prepped and then painted in satin black ready to be mounted to the chassis. I'll take some pics as the process takes place.

above is a link for how it should look when rebuilt. still not sure what colour it is going though.
hope you like

Shell has now come in and was immediatley flipped upside down so we could get started. Didnt even get the chance to take a pic of the top
The shell is quite flimsy tbh, but it only weighs around 55kg
The Front

The Rear

If my boss is in tomorrow morning, we will be trying it on the chassis so we can to see if any rectification work will be needed to make it fit nice and snug.
Ill try to get some pics, and might mount 2 of the wheels quickly for some pics

Back of holiday and the filler work has been largely completed and primed with just pin holes to fill when i go in later.

Barry applying the primer.
Also why i was away the brand new sand cast mag wheels arrived.

I then spent yesterday afternoon rubbing them down with 240 to get a nice key ready for primer whilst barry made a couple of stands to hold them for spraying.

Barry applying the primer.

And a primed wheel.
When i go in later will be rubbing these down ready for the factory silver paint.

Engine bay painted, but its come out a bt too glossy and its meant to be satin
We think its done this because of the plastiser (sp
)

Just got to wait and see what the owner says, as the next job is either repainting the bay, or mounting the shell onto the chassis so it can go off to a profesional bodyshop with an oven etc for the bodywork to be sorted and painted.

Whats the chaps name. I had a word with my boss today, the only Clans he knows of winning rallys outright was the" tour of mull" driven by Andrew Connely, and i think he said the "Manx" driven by Andrew Dawson.

Shell is now on the chassis for the last time. Firts though we had to lower the chassis off the tressels to a more manageable height as it would of been awkward with the shell on. As we couldn't think where to put axle stands on the rear without them getting in the way, we decided to fit the rear wheels and lower it onto ramps with the front on axle stands

A shot of the wheels and proper period AVON tyres. Have to say the tyres aint light compared to just the weight of a bare rim.

A pic with the shell on.

And a pic of the empty and bare (for now) engine bay.
