I went into Halfords yesterday as I needed a 12v stop/tail bulb for a service on a transit van i was doing, as usual theres allways something you need when your local motor factors is shut !!!
So I went in and picked up the bulb I needed but they come in a Pair for £2.49 I thought thats a bit steep but i needed them and I will put it on the customers bill anyway, when i see my cousin and he says he will get me his discount (i think its 15 or 20 %) then the manager see's him and shouts over sort him a traders card out so we go back to the counter fill in the necesary form and hey ive got a trade card !! But best of all the bulbs then only cost me 46P !!
How the Hell can they sell 2 bulbs for £2.49 to normal people like you lot
And I get charged 46 pence

I keep cheap wipers and bulbs under the counter for trade customers. Average joe thinks that 1.99 is cheap for a 380 stop/tail bulb, its only when some people realize that they're paying way over the odds you have to offer something else or you lose the business.
Even at 46p they've still made money on you! they cost about 7p each iirc!!

And you get shit loads off tools, too.
I got one, went in there to buy some socket rails, and they asked "are you in the trade?!" I said no, I'm an aircraft engineer up at the airport, and he said that'd do lol - just needed to show my airside pass. (Using tools for your profession seems to be what they are after). So got one that way, bargain

As said already, there are some big savings to be had with the cards though, batteries are probably one of the best things to be marked down (or up lol)
