i've had a few dogs but this is my first big dog breed (rotty) so its new to me.... he's 1 years old and he used to bark VERY loud, now hes barking like a fox,

is his voice breaking?

My pup has just started to bark scares herserlf sometimes

 

My rotties bark 'broke' & it just got deeper & deeper - they have a very throaty bark, you always know when a rottie barks

 

 

yeah his bark used to be very loud for a 1year old pup, but now it seems to be a fox type bark. could he have lost his voice after barking like mad yesterday at some idots pissing him off behind the garden

i remember when i had to give gem my boxer dog that i had with an ex girlfriend cough syrup we thought it was gonna be a night mare so i held her down sammy got in there with the syrup and she hated it any how i was in on my own the next time she needed some so i thought fuck this put it on the spoon held it out to gem and she fooking loved it liked the spoon clean lol

if you are in any doubt get the little fella to the vets.one of my huskies has just had a mild version of kennel cough and its a very dry hacking cough mate,so dont sound like its that

i have loads of times,we have them by us,sometimes see a bunch
of them mooching around together,it drives our GSD mad
they make a racket like they are dying.
she once got out one evening,but came back just as sun was rising
had stuff on its coat indicating it had been through bushes and hedges
and ponged to high heaven,a local farmer said it must of been after

Dogs can damage their vocal chords exactly the same as humans. If he has overused them by constant barking it is quite possible he has lost his bark. I have had this happen several times with my own dogs. Hearing a German Shepherd with a squeaky bark is so ridiculous.

Give it a few days and he should be back to normal. If it persists longer than that then as a precaution take him to the vets fro a check up.

My dog goes bananas when she hears foxes. I just wish she would lose her bark at times, she barks at every little noise from outside and every person that walks past the house and it's not as if she has a quiet bark either
