I'm getting a hollow sort of knocking noise from the driver side front wheel when i go over a bump or slight pot hole etc

I've checked the wheel bearing & it's ok, i've also checked the driveshaft by full locking the steering wheel & driving round in a circle (both ways) & that doesnt make any noise either.

Can the insert knock in the koni shock?

Any ideas?

 

Yes, if rust has stopped the cap screwing on far enough, I had this on a MK2 escy, put a large flat washer under each one, taped it to the insert as I fitted it, bounce it up and down and you may hear the knocking if it's that.

how low is the car mate and does it have bump stops still on it

as it could be bottoming the shock out

or it could just be teh ball joint knocking
