Default Noise Regulations........

I know my car was pretty loud at National Day, but do you think it would pass 110db Noise Regs for Snetterton?? Not really sure how they measure it.

Would be good if its stationary as without boost the screamer will be closed!!

Noise is usually measured via a static test with revs held at 4500 RPM.

The noise meter is held a set distance away from your tailpipe whilst you rev it to 4500, you only need to hold it for 1 second as it takes a peak reading.

I wouldn't worry Christian, 110db is VERY noisy and one of the highest limits I have ever known in this country. Mine failed at Combe earlier this year, their limit was 100db and I was measured at 101db, but they wouldn't let me run

Can't remember the physics of it but its something like for every db you go up - the actual sound level peak doubles, so believe me 110db will be approaching Concorde levels

Off topic Christain. At the ring there was a guy with a 400+bhp 200sx who said he knew Gary and yourself. He blew his gearbox on saturday and we passed him as he was limping off. DIdn't catch his name though.

That'll be Ben Taylor then!! His car is pretty awesome.

Snetterton seem pretty leniant with Noise compared to others. Thinking about it, they normally have an Aston Martin roaring round which must be louder than my little 1600.

So it sounds like I may be safe then??

Kay- Screamer pipe- Ie hes got an external wastegate and instead of it plumbed back into the exhaust it has its own unsilenced exhaust for the wastegate gasses to exit.

Nothing comes out until full boost as wastegate is shut, at full boost when the wastegate opens its incredibly noisy as no silencers or turbo to muffle the sound, loud as fook, it fookin SCREAMS, hence screamer pipe

1db is infact twice as loud but i think thats to do with how you make another noise over come it ( ie when the neibours play take that on saturdays when i wanna sleep then i gotta find the iron maiden tape to overcome it
