In that first clip, with the shot from the top of the inlet manifold, surely those cannot be the fuel injectors working, as they seem to be a long way out of the manifold track? Also what's that mist? Can anyone explain?

they are injectors

how fast do you think the air is flowing into the engine?

That’s interesting. So the injectors sit the other side of the butterfly, in relation to the combustion chamber. I thought that in the interests of efficiency, it’s best to have the injector as close to the combustion chamber as possible. Well, I’ve learnt something new today.

genrally the further away is better for power! it can allow the fuel to gather heat from the inlet charge air and atomise better

Cant view clip at the moment as im working, but for the toyota F1 team we have a dyno room that exactly replicates the conditions expected on the track, so every throttle movement and temp variation for the entire race.

They do this to confirm the longevity of the engine for the race.

Ironically the need for this level of testing has become more apparent than ever since the "one engine to last two races" rule as far as im aware, and that rule was brought in to make it cheaper on the teams in terms of engines, but now they have to destroy MORE engines testing than they ever did before the rule, lol

A Gareth says, in a competition engine having the injectors as far aways as possible from the combustion chamber is desirarable for a power point of view, but gives low speed issues. This is why on a 4 cylinder engine an 8 injector setup is better than 4 large injectors, but it is more expensive and also more difficult to implement.
