Default 240 bhp @ wheels

How much to achieve the above?

I.E, for engine & gearbox to take it.

I'm bored and considering a silly winter project.

1.6 cvh ideally, if not, 1.9. Don't want to go zvh route really.

240 @ wheels, approx 270-275 @ fly.

I know its gonna be a lot, but how much? £3k, £5k, £7k?

What you going to need

Stage 3 head
Newman cam
Quality pistons
Steel rods
Different managment
T34 or bigger
3" exhaust
GRS or simlar cooler
Paddle clutch
Gearbox that will handle the power
Live mapping

And all the other bits to build the engine.

That is an absolute bargain there! I can't understand why this engine hasn't been snapped up already. It is almost identical to mine and Mr C's....

Drop that baby in with a big turbo and say hello to the best part of a real 300bhp, if that is what you want.

My poxy car only made 244 at the wheels the other week which turned out to be 288bhp at the fly at the APT rolling road day, suffice to say there is a slight issue that needs looking at lol.

So your estimate isn't far off.

It is an option I am considering, but am waiting on a reply to an email I sent to Karl Norris.

Tony, how much would a turbo be to complete this engine? I want midrange punch, not really after chasing daft power figures high up. Fairplay to those running in excess off 300 bhp, but i bet its such a laggy nighmare to drive, it'd take the fun out of it, for me at least.

Anyone know the cost of a stage 2 + bernie/cts box? I could mail/pm, but he must get asked so much he's bored with it.

Nice one!

bit of work to make that fit a T3 ERST manifold/downpipe isn't it tho? I'm not spending £700 on a custom tubular when I'm not planning the power to need it!!!

Turbo price depends on your bedget, and as for lag... I don't think so. I am using an old T34 on mine and I wouldn't say it was very laggy for what it is and does. The drivability is great actually. I also wouldn't say that 300bhp is a "daft power figure" either these days. Not if you take it to someone that knows what they are doing. It isn't easy, but it isn't daft. very different things.

You could fit something more modern like a GT28 which will come on boost way before a T34 and still give enough power to go 160+mph.

Sorry Tony not looking to offend!

By daft, I meant the way it will chew tyres and torque steer. I know a well set up suspension will help reduce torque steer, but won't eliminate it.

Where does your T34 hit full boost? is it standard, or modded with cut back blades etc?

Not looking for argument, trying to finalise and price up what i want to achieve with my car.
