how to report a company?
situation is i bought a 2nd hand part for my car , got a price which is was happy with inc post, paid for this over the phone. week later i get the parts with an invoice that states VAT has been added without my knowledge and after the phone call for which i have already paid for amount said!!
now my issue is firstly i didnt think that you could charge VAT on 2nd parts, if you can not really that bothered?
secondly and more importantly the charge was made without my knowledge and added onto the price which i was given.
now am i in the wrong here and is this normal practice for people to use? if i was taking a card payment i would say the total price before asking for card details?
would like to know before i go off on one tomorrow

in this country you are ment to inform the customers of all prices with the vat added
but it aint always the way
think thats bad, i got a quote for springs from a trader on here a few years ago for 25 quid, i got a bill when they came for 25 plus vat and then another 20 quid for postage,,,,,, they was rusty as fuck too and one of em snapped in 4 months
you can get springs for 50 quid,,,, if i knew the postage and vat i would have got em NEW

yeh its not the fact they added the vat its that they added it after i payed so therefore never knew the amount coming off the card!!

YES VAT is payable even on second hand items, or pre used/owned as we have to call them now!!
They have broken the law, as they have deceived you, all transactions have to state a FINAL PRICE BEFORE CARD DETAILS ARE EVEN ASKED FOR, it is as clear as that.

I agree with above post swerv, Its anoying haveing to pay VAT on second hand parts when the vat has been paid on these parts all ready.
We do a lot of over the phone transactions and you must always make it 100% clear to the customer how much you are going to debit there account by,

A merchant must state the total amount to you before processing your card details.
In some retail outlets you even get given the card reader to check the amount and press "OK" if you are happy with the amount before you put your pin in.
Seems a little deception has took place.
Go to your local magistrates court and send a small claims letter that you fill in yourself explaiining that if you dont have the funds that were unclear refunded, that you will proceed with legal action.
with the refund of these monies then you are prepared to overlook this error and not take it any further.

ring your card issuer and query the transaction. you'll get the money straight back.
they can't do it... end of.
you'll then still need to pay for the goods or return them
