Default Piston identification

Can anyone shed some light on the make of these pistons. I pulled these out of my S2, the block is meant to be a 1900cc, verniered the bores and they are 83.3mm. Pistons are meant to be forged but i wouldnt know the difference!! It has A.P.L 1001 stamped underneath the piston.

They do look like they are forged but it looks as of someone has attacked the crowns with something very abrasive

No idea what make they are myself though.
