for a start, dont fit the speakers in the shelf.
The air movement from the subwoofer can affect the operation of the 6x9's in the shelf.
You'd be better with a good quality front set up, rather than a poor quality rear set up.
I have used velcro (a fair amount) in the past to stop the sub box moving around, and fitted the amp to the box, or you could fit a wooden floor and affix both the amp and the sub box to it.
hth.

Where would i put my 6x9's then if not in the parcil shelf? also if i put a mdf floor in the boot how would i fix that in? screws? Sorry if im sounding dumb but never fitted one before
for the sub, i fitted the amp to the back/side of the sub box and put a wooden floor in to hide the wires... then used L section steel and drilled holes in it so that i could screw the sub box to the floor. hope that helps!

As Mike says have NO mid or full range speakers in the back
Fronts, have some components, only mid and tweeters, and a good sub in the boot
If the fronts are powered well enough, they will fill the car with sound!
Rear speakers spoil the whole sound, as well as if you have 6x9's they will die before long from the bass the sub produces!

sell the 6x9s and your front speakers, then use the money for a decent set of front components, i would recommend focal or rainbow. Don't bother with speakers in the back, cos you don't go to a music concert and face the back do you, your brain prefers to have the sound coming from the front
Don't bother with mdf all over the place in the boot, it will only slow you down, and it is more to rattle about. Just a simple, tidy box, with maybe a bit of velcro to hold the sub to the boot floor if you need it.
My 12" JL sits in my boot, with the amp velcro'd beside it, and with all the wires hidden (nothing worse than having wires flapping about in the breeze all over the place). Simplicity is the key

This is my Esc Cos boot install. The sub, amp and power cap are mounted on mdf, which has been cut around the spare wheel cover and covered in carpet. I made the mdf so the bottom of the sub sits on the wood where the amp is. Then I used some spray adhesive ( http://www.motor-world.co.uk/show_pr...&prod_id=12858 ) to make sure it doesn't go anywhere

My girlfriend pug is the same idea. False floor to hide the wiring. Amp screwed into false floor and sub box held in please with spry adhesive.

Thanks for all the ideas peeps i will be having ago at it next weekend ive noticed alot of you dont bother with 6x9's (ive just spent a Ł100 on them aswel
) One quick question tho
should i uprate the back speakers in the mouldings at the side of the parcel shelf as they are only std ones in there.

Are you planning on amping any of the speakers or just the sub?
in my saph i have a alpine V12 amp boxed and mounted to therear seat, and a 10" free air sub in a nice custom built parcel shelf, which isnt MDF, i dunno what wood it is but iit weighs a fookin ton. I also have some rear componets (JBL) in the shelf which run of the amp, and them metal pioneers compnents running at the front, the car used to be owned by a car audio shop as a demo so the install is pretty good quality and the wiring is top notch as well. The best thing tho is i lose zero boot space which is quality
