Default MK6 FIESTA 1.3LX yr 2002...help!

Roughly every 3 or 4 weeks when i go to start my car i experience a whine noise as if something is stuck and the car does not turn over. After a couple of attemps it starts as normal. As i said it only happens once in a while..........Any ideas what it could be???

Also....

I have just fitted a Cat back Powerflow exhaust and K&N 57I INDUCTION and was wondering if anyone could give a rough Bhp gain guide i should be looking at?

If it is a whine as opposed to a click click then it sounds like the starter not engaging, most likely just crudded up with gunge stopping throw out of drive pinion, just sounds like a fast spinning motor ?
For the mods I would expect around 6-10 bhp, forget the adds!!

Default Cheers

Thanks Tabetha.......
Will give starter a clean to see what happens......its just funny how it happens one every few weeks and always in the morning....def a whining and not a clicking noise.

Up to 10 bhp would give me a little bit more midrange which is great on the standard. Smallest car engine i have ever had, but mpg great!

You will know if it is spinning as you will hear it easily, classic first thing in the morning sticky, do not use normal grease on the parts/lever use HMP GREASE.

Default Thanks again

Cheers Tabatha! had exhaust and induction fitted yesterday and it is like driving a different car with alot more punch and driveability.....on the roller it went from 71bhp standard up to 84bhp and torq lbs were good too.........went for powerflow where they reduced the noise as did not want it sounding like something it wasn't.

Default How true!

this article in fast ford ran tests on the Fiesta ST and the K&N filter produced 11bhp alone and the exhaust 9bhp.....so 13bhp is not bad at all.
