Anyone know anything about foxguard alarms?

mines just stopped working after i disconnected the battery to remove my starter motor

ive found 3 fuses going inline to the alarm control unit, there are ok
would there be any more??

also the fob light still lights up when pressed, so think the fobs ok

ive disconnected the battery before and when i re-connect it the alarm goes off and i use to be able to press the fob button and the alarm would stop and the doors would lock like normal

this time when i re-connect the battery, the alarm keeps going off untill i disconnected the battery again or unplug the connecter on the alarm control unit, fob lights up when pressed but alarm doesnt switch off

any ideas?

 

You sure you haven't missed off any wires from the battery terminal?

 

pretty sure there was only 2 on each terminal, dont reckon the siren would be going off if id have missed either, siren hasnt got a back up power either

 

Well to be honest with you if its not got battery back up its not a Cat 1 alarm and isnt really going to be doing much for you, being as if someone wanted to pinch the car they could just cut wiring.

Probably not the answer you're after but i'd rip it out and fit a nice Toad in there, mine cost me £113

Dont really know what else to suggest and you've tried the usual, you could try replacing the transmitter battery, you never know.

 

Is your door or bonnet open aye ?

there all closed but i could check the switchs, wouldnt it still try to arm up though if a door was open ect?

already tried, couldnt find one, only found sites that sell the fobs and complete alarms

 

wierd one could poss be a faulty unit but bit of a coincident that its happend when i connected the battery back up

 

trying to sell the car, spent loads on it already and dont really wana fork out for a alarm because i wont get that money back

 

Have you checked all the earths on the switches and made sure all the connections are clean??

Re-Synchronising Foxguard Alarms

Foxguard have found that a large proportion of returned F1-11 units are not actually faulty but simply out of synchronisation with the Radio Key. The F1-11 uses a random encryption antiscan grabcoding system. If the Radio Key is operated out of range of the car the key wilI transmit a coding signal but the receiver in the alarm will not recieve it. If this happens the coding in the Radio Key moves on but the unit will not. This will cause problems if the Radio Key is regularly pressed and released while out of range.
If the Radio Key no longer operates the alarm systern, try the spare one. If the system is operating correctly this indicates the first remote is simply out of synchronisation. It is possible to resynchronise the Radio Key:

Stand next to the car.
Press the left hand button on the Radio Key, the LED on the Radio Key will become solid.
Keep the button depressed for at least 3-4 seconds.
Release the button and immediately press the button again for 1-2 seconds.
The Radio Key is now back in synchronisation with the alarm. You may have to try a few times before the system will respond correctly, if you don't do step 4 quickly enough - the button need only be released for a split second.

Theres your answer then, rip the alarm out, lock the doors from inside, climb out the boot and lock it.

wonder if halfords stock a keyless entry system for cheap? surpose i could remove the alarm and fit that, its got a seperate immobiliser on it

 

If your guna do that i'd just buy a toad, fit it yourself and flog the immobiliser on ebay

 

I have exactly the same problem - have disconnected and fitted new battery - the alarm will not switch off or reset. Did you ever solve this problem?? If you did can you give me some tips
If anyone has any ideas please reply. It is a Foxguard F18E alarm. Have tried holding the left hand button on the fob down for 4 seconds then immediately after release and press again - but this has not worked.
