so far, i have changed:

air temp sensor
map sensor
coolant sensor
mixture potentiometer
ht leads
plugs
put a k&n on


i am at a total loss still.

the sypmtoms i get are still exactly the same. when cold, the car starts fine, but will not rev past a certain point. cant say what revs its doing cos the rev counter still dont work, but its 35mph (ish) in 2nd. it sort of hits a wall, and wont accelerate past this. when its doing it, it kicks out a load of smoke, and reels like its over fueling or under fueling i cant tell which.

when warmed for a few mins, it is fine. it will happily accelerate to 40 in 2nd, and there is never any smoke.

please help. its a 1600 efi cvh in my mk4 escort cab.

 

sounds like have forked out a fortune and alot of time and headache on this problem.....


you should have taken it to a PRO who could have diagnosed this problem using a rolling road and some diagostic equipment to check fuel and spark etc etc...

Any rolling roads near you?

 

thats the whole problem really. when on the rollers, it will be warmed up so wont have the probem!

 

So you leave it with them and they can run it when its cold.........
