Default Turbo technics Stg1 turbo, what BHP.

What power has been seen on this turbo.

TT said its got a 50 trim comp wheel and housing, cut back blades, and std exhaust side. rated to 18psi.

My rough spec,
fresh RST engine, std comp, ported and flowed head, 2.5" system, 4wd inter.
Will also have a newmans cam.

as i just converted my TT from the old T25 spec which it made 203 bhp, 204 lbft before i changed the mani and turbo. but didn't make 15+ psi before 3500 rpm.

Last night i went out for the first time with the T3, and its hitting 25psi @ 2500 rpm (on a trial run, to see where it hits proper boost)
Any way, its now set to 17 psi.

Cheers Danny

Spoke To Turbo technics today.

And they rate it to 180 bhp, but thats under estimated, as std item will do that.

if its a 50trim wheel, it will do 250 hp, but the back end will prob do upto 240hp

I found that my big valve made the std turbo come in very early too. Your ignition isn't retarded is it - as that can create a very fast spool.

Hi Rick,

i no longer run a big valve stg 3 head, as i've got just a P+F'd s2 head on there now.

As i'm running xr2 dissy with my own modifie'd Saab retard unit, it can only be set to its det point (between 4800 to 5300 rpm on my car)
so its running retarded on boost before that rpm point.

For instance, at the moment its set for 19-18psi hit and held.
heres my rpm and total ignition on boost.

1000 = +12'
2000 = +18'
2500 = 0'
3000 = +2'
4000 = +6'
5000 = +9'
6000 = +14'
7000 = +15'

I would prefer alot more ignition between 2250 - 4500 rpm as this does = more torque/bhp on my TT, even tho the boost is later in coming in.
(i've tested this on a DD RR last summer).

But i dont want to go full management as it takes the car from its history, if you know what i mean.

i've tested and played with over 8 different dissy's and retard's to get the timing i have now, which is alot better than any other TT i've set up/seen.

What sort of ignition do you see @ 2000 - 7000 rpm on your RST, or even a std or 200 bhp mfi RST?

that is retarded! No wonder it spools in so quick. Your normal chipped RST will see about 14 degrees max. I'm currently mapping mine, so it's far from finished but here is the current map.

the 199-270kPa load sites can run more advance yet, stuff higer up i have only breifly tried, and no det. The car is so lively though, even with the T34 and 7.4:1 ratio, it feels very crisp.

Am i correct to say 15psi = 100 kpa roughly?

so

29 kpa = 10 psi vacum
120 kpa = 2 psi boost
271 kpa = 25 psi boost.

if so,

heres your map against mine at same boost. (i averaged off your graph, for same rpm/boost as mine)

For instance, at the moment its set for 19-18psi hit and held.
heres my rpm and total ignition on boost.

RPM = my ign -------your ign = boost

1000 = +12' ----- +10' = -10psi vacum
2000 = +18' ----- +26' = 5psi boost
2500 = 0' -------- +18' = 20psi
3000 = +2' ------- +19' = 19psi
4000 = +6' ------- +19' = 18psi
5000 = +9' ------- +20' = 18psi
6000 = +14' ------ +20' = 17psi
7000 = +15' ----- +20' = 17psi

even tho your map is not finished, and your running completely different spec. it still shows how retarded mine is 2000 - 4500 rpm.

Yea, ur spot on - and yes - u are retarded lol. Mine isn't finished - but it will be advanced more than anything. You're missing out on a whole load of torque....

Been looking a Micra Dynamics boost retard unit.

best i'll be able to get,

RPM = B4 ign -----New ign = boost

1000 = +12' ----- +8' = -10psi vacum
2000 = +18' ----- +18' = 5psi boost
2500 = ---0' ----- +11' = 20psi
3000 =- +2' ----- +13' = 19psi
4000 = -+6' ----- +15' = 18psi
4500 = -+8' ----- +10' = 18psi
5000 = -+9' ------- +9' = 18psi
5500 = +12' ----- +12' = 17psi
6000 = +14' ----- +14' = 17psi
7000 = +15' ----- +17' = 17psi

This is using a different dissy i have (tt) with 3.5' retard every 1000rpm,
and re advanced at 5000 rpm (this is done in %, so i sort of estimated it,
as dont know what its a percentage of, if its 3.5' per rpm, of amount its retarded @ last retard = 5000rpm). so i averaged it out.

As you can see its not ideal, but alot better than before between

that is much better, will never be ideal - but probably as good as if not better than most ESCII setups.
