The dampers and the springs are the same!
The springs will be in the same size/hight

I know, I have one

And as i could understand the question was not about rear anti roll bar
the cabby is stiff any way, because the lack of hard roof
it is stiffen up behind with the blue metal plate that is right behind the rear back seats

suspensions was going to this car:

ended up on this one:

the S2 and the xr3i is lower than the other mk4´s.

don´t remember how much lower

and the dampers and springs are all the same on MK4

one example is:

Burtonpower is selling a koni kit
Part No: KOSSK1
Description: KONI KIT MK3/4 ESCORT '83-90
Other Info: BASE MODELS -40mm/XR3i/TURBO -20mm

The cabby suspension arms wont have the ARB mounts for one.

Just admit you're wrong be a whole lot easier

how can you change them? The mounts are welded onto the wishbones!

And an ANTI ROLL BAR is part of the rear suspension, S2's have them, cabby's don't, you are wrong

end of story

thankyou please

dampers and springs are part of suspension, as are wishbones ARB's tie bars and so on.

Diamonds, what were you going to sell to the chap?

Dont think you have much of a clue mate to be honest.Firstly the above example you've shown is for a KONI shock and spring kit.Whats that got to do with standard FORD shocks and more importantly spring height????Secondly, since when is the shocks and springs the only parts of suspension???Diamonds asked about suspension in his origional question, not shocks/springs!!!!Micky
Dont think you have much of a clue your self mate!
Its a koni kit, as an example. there the springs: if you put in on the basic models it will lower it 40mm, if you put it on a xr3i and a S2 it lower it 20mm.. and whys does it lowers the xr3i and S2 the same?
Could it possible be because its the same hight?
So if you read it all and think a little you could see that the post have
got a little OT to the hight between xr3i and S2

so read then post!!!! Alex

and about the suspension , did think it was about the dampers and springs and not about the hole system

tulling

ooooo what a bitchy thread this is turning into

Diamonds as far as it goes, im 99.9% sure the S2 springs sit the car lower compared to 3i springs.

The rear wishbones won't have the rear ARB mounts, and obvio the car doesn't have the ARB either.

Shocks im pretty sure are the same.

Alex_86, you'll find manufacturers around that make spring kits and list the differences in heigh it makes between a S2 and a 3i

No what i mean, is a set of lowering springs, you fit them to a 3i, and it will make the car a lower overall drop than if fitted to an S2. Its the ride height figure thats relevant.

We need some original Ford sales brochures to look at the official ride height figures.

And you think the muppets at ford are going to know that! Wishful thinking if ever i heard it

I done some research and it turns out that Alex is right on the xr3i and s2 being the same height. the mk3's were different though.

the mk4 xr3i and Rs turbo had the same ride height of 1349mm compared to the other models at 1369 mm.
the mk3 xr3i was 1380mm and the Rs turbo was 1349 mm and all other models 1380mm
