What major things could/should be changed before 50K?

Timing belt mate, belt tensioners, you wanna change the diff and gearbox oils regulary
those other items you mention have a good long service life as long as you run the car carefully,. give it fresh oils all the time and warm up and cool down properly, the quickest way to feck yer turbo is by shutting it down before its moving parts have had chance to cool.
its spinning at 100,000 rpm or something daft so it needs looking after and will last ages

dont do the headgasket unless it needs doing though. if its not broke, dont fix it - UNLESS , you ar eloking at upping the power and want it doing right in the 1st place.
